Speedi sleeves are used with worn shafts and offer several advantages: reduces equipment down time and there is no need to remove the shaft; very thin so the seal size does not need to change; they have a wear resistant finish; and these are extremely durable and corrosion free. Certainly less costly than a shaft repair or replacement.
