Mechanical Face Seals

Independence Seal designs, manufactures, and supplies mechanical face seals – for all machine types, but especially in rotary severe and dirty environments. As an ISO 9001 certified company these seals can be made with the Steel, Cast Alloy, silicon carbide, tungsten carbide and an elastomer: NBR, HNBR, Silicone or Viton. The heavy-duty nature of a face seal is essential because mechanical face seals are found in equipment that requires maintenance-free sealing for long periods of time. These seals can most commonly be used in transmissions, pumps, axles, braking systems, conveyors, mixers, and gearboxes in the following industries:

  • Agriculture
  • Mining
  • Construction
  • Manufacturing
  • Drilling & Shoring
  • Marine & Intermodal

Mechanical Face Seals consist of two metal seals and two elastomeric components, which are mounted into two separate housings. The elastomeric parts, as a secondary seal, take over the function of the elastic force of the spring, the static sealing between the sliding ring and the housing. The perfectly lapped contact surfaces of both metal sealing rings are pressed and axially slide on each other. We offer two profile types of mechanical face seals:
